Week 2: Race, Gender, Politics

You have read several texts which address the issue of gender and race in politics. Soon you will be able to take part in the political process by becoming a registered voter. Consider the following questions.

1. Do you think our society is now ready to vote in presidential elections based strictly on the issues and the qualifications of the candidates?
2. Would you vote for a candidate based solely on race or gender? Why or why not?
3. What other firsts for minorities do you think we will see in our lifetime?

Choose one of the above questions and share your opinion with the class. Remember, your opinion must be based on fact. Use the article “Ready or Not? The Changing Face of American Leadership” and one additional credible source from the internet to support your opinion. Link your additional source to your post.
